Hi all,
Would really appreciate some advice regarding OH's motor. It's an X plate polo 1.4 petrol. Sailed through MOT last month, but just been told the clutch is knackered so wants replacing. They only want £200 so no biggy. But, it keeps throwing up little issues as I appreciate any car this age would.
I'm wondering whether best to suck up the £200, better the devil and all that, and hope for the best. Or save the £200, and chop it in against something else, as an example this:

That purely on the basis that I've seen on here those yaris' are as 'bulletproof' as possible for this kind of price range? Although I do recall something about avoiding those with a certain type of gearbox?
The car is really only used as a daily commuter for about 10 miles a day. I'm fully aware that changing to something else is a risk at this price point as anything will likely throw up issues.

£1500 will get you into a 1.5 Yaris T-sport with cash to spare in a private sale, the 1.3 is a bit asthmatic...and i would say the one you've posted is a little overpriced.
They like to eat front droplinks, and have a good poke about for rust, but that's about it... the engine is chain driven and generally very reliable if maintained.
Parts generally are cheap and plentiful, not sure about gearbox issues, most jap cars i've owned/driven are a bit notchy when cold.
However - all that said, I would stick with what you have and pony up the £200... it's almost always cheaper to stick with what you have unless something major goes wrong.
