I pay just under 100 quid a month for the extended BMW warranty on my M4 and had been under the impression that as long as it was serviced on time at a VAT registered garage using recommended oil and parts then it would be acceptable.

Have just noticed this paragraph on their website about the extended warranty:

Servicing your BMW vehicle.
– Failure to comply with the service schedule recommended by BMW Group UK may invalidate the warranty. An Authorised BMW Centre or BMW Service Authorised Workshop using only genuine BMW Parts must carry out all service and warranty work. The BMW Service Booklet should also be stamped, dated and detailed with the correct mileage at the time of service by the servicing BMW Centre.

Does this mean that you need to get it serviced at a BMW dealership and the option of an indy garage is no longer allowed and would invalidate the full warranty?

Interested to hear any replies from anyone who knows.

I've always had my CSL serviced at BMW main dealers to avoid any potential issues with the extended Insured warranty & so far so good.

This is the paragraph from my policy document and I can confirm I have used a VAT registered BMW Specialist who uses BMW parts and I've made a claim via my main dealer for a new sat nav for example; at which point BMW warranty did ask for sight of my service book. Claim was accepted and service book showed 3 indy services, 2 under my ownership and one before.

I'd rely on what your document says and/or advice email the warranty team and get confirmation in writing.

What must I do to keep the Warranty valid?
The terms and conditions of the warranty listed below must be adhered to. Failure to do so will result in the rejection of a claim or the termination of your BMW Insured Warranty. This does not affect your statutory rights.
1. a) Care of the Vehicle - you must keep your vehicle in an efficient and road worthy condition and regularly service it in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and genuine parts, or parts of equivalent specification must be used.
b) After each service, please ensure that the relevant service details are completed in your service records by the servicing garage and obtain a VAT receipt for the service. You must keep all such receipts for reference in the event of a claim.

OP, I think you're quoting text from the AUC warranty which is not the same as the extended insurance policy/warranty that you pay for after the AUC or new car warranty has run out.

Many thanks, the light bulb in my head lit up you when you said that. You are correct. If you buy a BMW used approved car, you need to have it serviced by a BM dealer. If you then extend the warranty beyond the year, you can have it serviced at any VAT registered garage using approved BM oil etc.

Cheers for the replies.

Does anyone know if getting your UK registered car serviced by a main dealer in the Republic of Ireland would satisfy the requirements under the AUC warranty?
