Good. It’s got completely out of hand in Essex. I know so many people who’ve had their car stolen.

would you believe it, crims target an area where rich people neglect to take simple measures to ensure
their very desirable and expensive cars are impossible to steal.

Seems to becoming more common on here that the it's the victims of crime fault they were targetted.

The reason often seems to be "they are rich (i.e.they have more than me) so it's their fault".

Sounds very much like victim blaming.

Not everyone's a car geek that knows the technicalities of how cars are stolen - and thus how to prevent it.

Exactly. And not all people that have a nice 'desirable' car are able to park it off road and out of sight, and what about the people
that have low life breaking their door down and threatening the owners with their lives unless they hand over the keys?, what blame
you putting on them?

Does your house have door locks, window locks, 5 lock patio doors, alarm, cctv etc etc? (tick any that apply)

Its no different to ensure your £40k car is secure and less likely to be nicked.

Its not victim blaming but negating the risk of losing your assets.

It'd be great to strip away some of the things that prevent the police doing more of that.

Interestingly, a force a friend works in have trialed a vehicle crime team (as they had pre-cuts) which they are about to make permanent. If the government are serious about this 20k extra officers (on top of all the people who'll retire in that time frame), then the return of these types of departments will be a benefit for all.

My friend lives near Stourbridge in the West Mids and his local group is reporting about 2 car thefts per night.

Apparently there’s a group forming/formed to stop it.
