Scarier still, if you look in the phone book, you can find someones telephone number from a name and address, or if you ring directory enquiries they will give you the reverse service too, a name and address from a phone number. That has been around for decades, well before mobiles were even invented. So why is it scary when the same is applied to a mobile and you dont even get a proper address, just within 300 metres?

its scary cos the address of your home doesnt follow you around. whereas, your mobile, by its design it supposed to be with you. i have no problem with people knowing my address, its people knowing where i am 24 hours of the day that unsettles me.

Because they are tracking your location, not the location of a static phone line into a building.

Last I checked directory enquiries didn't do reverse look up from a number, but perhaps its available now.

Personally I don't think its anyones business where I am at a given time. Furthermore, its especially unacceptable for someone who I don't know to be able track me without my knowledge or consent. Its one thing that the police have access to this, but not on that anyone does.

However, I have just tried it for my mobile which is on the '3' network and it cam up saying 'Network does not support this'.

so, would it be possible to put those co-ordinates into a maggellan or the like and get a exact fix on the phones location? anyone have one, im happy to give my co-ordinates for a test.

i just tracked a friend of mine, and it gave me her co-ordinates on the RAF base where shes stationed. am i being naive to be staggered by this? i cannot think this is good news.
