What is this car badge ?

Found these car Badges in my in-laws garage and we are really intrigued to see what they are, any help appreciated.

My guess is that the badge isn't a maker but is "Yorkshire". The white rose on a background of the St George's Cross just says Yorkshire to me.

Yep, car accessory badges. Back in the 60s/70s any self respecting posh bod would mount a badge bar on the front of his XJ saloon / Rover P5 etc and then add badges relevant to his life : County, Local Golf Club, local Masonic lodge, British Medical Association etc. The local populace would then understand how important he was. If he was a motor sport chappie then he would have a BARC or BRSCC badge or a BRDC version if he had really made it.

Servu produced various badges, if you are looking at collecting these badges then J.R.Gaunt (Birmingham) are the ones to have, great quality and very collectable.

When this fashion first started in the 50's the College of Heralds got very wound up about people displaying badges with their County coat of arms on their car as if the great unwashed couldn't tell the difference between a badge from an accessory shop, usually a plaque with the coat of arms and county name on it, and a signwritten emblem on the side of the mayoral car (or corporation dustcart). I think they gave up moaning in the end but people did get "booked" for it.

The nobility of course sometimes had their coat of arms on the doors of their elderly Rollers.

Beware of reproductions though, there are many around.
