Flashed by red light camera

Went through on red. <1s after it changed. Honestly thought it was going to stay amber.

Strange thing was although it had an icon on waze, it didn’t alert me to it and it’s usually pretty switched on about cameras round here (Lewisham). What’s the deal with having an icon on waze, there being a physical camera, it flashing and yet waze not alerting to it? I’ve seen quite a few of these.

Am I absolutely nailed on for £100 + 3 points? Not entirely sure but it’s possible someone followed me through. Here’s hoping.

Don't want to come over as an a*se, but you do know you have to stop for amber?
If someone followed you, then won't you both get a ticket?

Yes I do know and I accept I’ve screwed up. I could do without a lecture on the rules and my stupidity.

Well it was a rear facing camera and if someone did follow, then it’s unlikely the flash got a photo of my reg as the other car would have obscured.

Don't waze reports need to be validated by a local super user or some such before changes are applied?

At least you cleared the junction. I have no sympathy at all for the selfish s (because thats what they are) who creep over and get stuck. I know it's a fight fire with fire situation but you got to start maintaining standards somewhere.

It is indeed a first offence. Here’s hoping this is the worst I get. I’ve learnt a lesson, I definitely should have stopped.

It’s such a well trodden road (south circular) that I’m surprised it wasn’t on the waze radar. Hopefully it’s a camera that flashes but doesn’t send NIPs! I don’t know if that’s a thing or not.

I *think* it was just a single flash but tbh it happened so quickly I could be mistaken.

Many of them do, as I understand it. I was definitely under the 30mph limit as I’d been held up by a dawdler as I approached it. Possibly what wrongly inspired a stab of the throttle as it turned to amber.

Tried to search the net to understand why not all cameras which are icons on waze (the vast majority in fact) generate audible alerts. They’re definitely switched on in the app as I’m alerted to one speed camera and another red light camera on my own road with every leave and arrival to my house.

Yea, not forever like! The conspiracy theorist in me thinks the one with cameras switch from amber to red just that little bit quicker. The realist in me knows I just misread it.

Anything to do with speed? Above or below the limit. I don't use waze but on my crap nav I only get audible alerts if I'm above the limit.

Stop on amber if safe to, also be prepared for the lights to change on approach and look at adjusting speed, foot off accelerator for example, a green light is bad for drivers, that's what i was taught as a professional driver. As it could change at any time to amber.

Whereas a red light (on approach) will only go through to green.
