Hi chaps.

I do about 250 miles per week.
Mainly fast D/C to/from work and over to my girlfriends.

Now have 2 dogs and walk a 3rd for a friend.
I have a mk3 petrol mondeo hatchback that has served me well for 5+ yrs.
But it is now at the stage where it needs a fair bit of work, and is not practical for the dogs.

So it's time for an estate.
Budget is £1000.
Something that is DIY friendly.

I'm thinking a mondeo estate diesel.
Any other ideas?

I bought a 2003 Saab 9-5 estate for £500 about 4 months ago or so and its running fine at 190,000. Fitted new front tyres and pads and the mates garage says it'll need a couple bushes to get it through the MOT but fine other than that.

I take the bike pretty much everywhere and only use the car if the dog comes with. Quite well spec'd and everything seems to work.

Must admit, I have been looking at these, will go for a manual though, I think.

So much value!

Even if you have to chuck a few hundred quid into either.

Plenty A to B capacity left in them.
