RoverGauge in Android phone help !

Ok I have the Rover gauge cable and an old laptop and it’s all working ! But found out you can download an android app and use a cable adapter from phone to Rover gauge cable so couple of questions

I’ve only ever had iPhones and know nothing about phones so if I were to buy a second hand Android phone which ones would suit the screen display of the app and the gauges displayed ? Don’t need it as phone just display and don’t wanna spend loads for this reason as it will only be kept in the car !

Also what’s the best cable adapter from phone to RoverGauge cable ?
