AA damaged my car when it got stuck in the mud

Called out the AA as my car got stuck in the mud in a cemetery. AA guy came out attached a rope from his truck to my car and began to pull my car out.. as he was doign this the rope thing snapped and he dented my boot and smashed my rear light.

In the end we got the car out.. now when i read the accident report it states that i "agreed that there was a risk of damage to my car prior to him starting the work." This is a 100% lie, he did not mention anything like that to me.. i actually thought he would winch the car out.

What is the best thing to do here?

I’m genuinely 50/50 between they got you out and no harm intended, risk was obvious

And

They should have better equipment.

I guess as he falsified the report it makes the decision easier.

One of their patrol once dropped a caravan on my head. I’m pretty sure his report did not say that!

Question is did you sign the paperwork?
Does the paperwork note damaged occurred?
Was the recovery chargeable?

To be honest I think your 80% going to a dead end... please dont tell me your the 69 plate Merc GLA that some how went over the kerb, down a bank narrowly avoiding two trees instead over the barbed wire fence from earlier...

A caravan?

Yup. I had my jack under the caravan and the aa had theirs further up. He had me jack mine up a bit, and then added some height to his.

Caravan moved and fell off the jack. Luckily it is a twin axle caravan, and my head was just knocked into the floor before the other wheel stopped it going further.

Very scary, very lucky, and two verily relieved men.

I counted myself as bloody stupid for putting myself in that situation so did not complain.

I thought it was a bit of a thing that the AA / RAC won't recover you if stuck - Green Flag being the only one that will.

If that's correct then likely the reason is because of incidents like the OPs.

Yeah what sort of "breakdown" is getting "bogged down".

How did he attempt the recovery? Did he go at it at speed on an untensioned line or did he pull slowly after it was tensioned?

Snatch recoveries need specialised straps and can be very dangerous and the preserve of hardcore offroading so would be fairly negligent if he was doing that style of recovery.
