2018 Vanquish S downshift
Discussion
After receiving a "software update" while my Vanquish S was being serviced, the car no longer performs the "accelerator blip" on manual paddle (or automatic mode) downshifts. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
The factory is now claiming that my car is "performing as designed", when I know for a fact that it is not. The car performed the downshift blip for the first 5 months I owned it. My previous Vanquish did it. My previous Virage did it. It is one of the coolest features of driving the car.....I just love(d) the sound of that downshift blip, and I want it back.
I am reasonably certain that the DB11 and the DBS do it, but I would like to hear verification from owners of other Aston Martin models to confirm whether or not their cars perform the computer-controlled 'downshift accelerator blip'.
Thanks in advance.

Mine's a '17 and I'm pretty sure it does it (downshift are definitely noticeable but i've never really analysed them). Tax ran out on Saturday but should have her back on the road in next couple of days and if the opportunity presents then I'll get her out for a run and listen more carefully!
Out of interest, when did you have the update done? Mine's in for service towards end of the month, last update a year ago when the only noticeable change was the introduction of a slightly irritating banner message on the display that briefly suggests it can't find a file (to do with bluetooth I think).
If anyone knows of a user friendly way of finding out which software version(s) are active then I'd be more than happy to take a look.

The update was performed twice, once in May and again in January of this year (to verify that everything was the latest and greatest).
What prompted the first update was a problem with the infotainment system, mostly lack of connectivity for the bluetooth/phone stuff. There was never any problem at all with the performance of the car. The software update solved all of the infotainment issues but took away that fabulous downshift blip. The factory says those two things are not related, but SOMETHING changed in the way the computer handles the downshifts.
There is no mistaking that sound.....it replicates the sort of downshift racers/great drivers make when changing gears. I used to love to do it with my Astons with manual transmissions.

My last update was around this time last year and made no difference to the sound. Went for a run on Saturday and yes, there's a blip on downshifts on both paddle and auto. In for service later this month and I'll be rather unimpressed if anything they do impacts the acoustics.
Don't recall any major problems with infotainment/bluetooth on mine either. Only electrical gremlin so far is an intermittent issue with oil level sensor.

Thanks, Looney! (Th-th-th-that's all, folks!)
I knew the factory was gas-lighting me on the sound issue.
The Vanquish was returned to the dealership for another warranty item this morning, so hopefully they will figure out the downshift issue. I would still like to hear from others that either DO or do not have the lovely downshift blip on their V-12 cars.
