Memory price check
Discussion
I’m trying to give an Acer revo one rl85 a new lease of life by changing the original 4gb RAM for the maximum of 8gb (it only has a single slot, taking DDRL3 1600 SODIMM).
Having just done the same for a struggling laptop, where I bought 16gb of DDR4 2400 SODIMM for about £50, I was expecting to be able to do the same for less, what with it being half the density.
Imagine my surprise when the prices I can find are almost exactly the same.
Am I doing it wrong? Is it because it’s an older memory format? Does anyone have a source for bargain memory?

Meant to close the thread but forgot.
Ended up ordering from CEX, so thank you for the reminder.
When it arrived, I was a bit worried about the condition it would be in as it arrived in a Jiffy bag, but only in a paper bag inside that, no anti static measures at all.
Anyway, it seems to be fine, been pressed into service and making the elderly pc run much better.
Thanks again!
