Mercedes SL350 R230 (with facelift) - thoughts please....
Discussion
Morning all,
Last week on a whim I bought an 03 SL350 that's been facelifted. Bought on line without seeing (I know..) but with loads of pics and videos etc 88k miles, full BM history. The guy selling is a dealer (Landbeasts in Essex), and what a great experience it's been! I picked the car up last Tuesday and drove it 150 miles home through snow, sleet, hail and floods. Performed faultlessly all the way and was exceptionally comfortable. I already have an R129 500SL which I love. He's taken my P38 4.6 V8 Range Rover (which also performed faultlessly on the journey down).
Landbeasts is an amazing place, a hobby turned into a sideline business. I must have spent a good hour being shown around his personal collection including a Countach, 512TR, NSX, E24 M635CSi, E30 M3, Mk1 Golf Gti, Mk2 16v, loads of old american muscle, 2 x Mini Coopers, lots of old Japanese stuff. Seriously incredible afternoon.
Anyhow - pics. There's a new front grille on the way. What do you all think of the facelift, I'm not a great fan of being a 'fake' but I think it looks better: (bloody thumbsnap won't let me upload most of my pics stating 'invalid file' - any ideas?)

That's lovely, the black with light interior. The facelift interior is great.
Like yourself I have an R129 and R230. Yours should be less problematic as it's probably on steel springs.
Check that the other weak points are fine, leaks into boot etc. There's lots of guides and videos online for Mercs.
If it's dry don't be afraid to use it top down, just turn the heat up. Get a wind deflector second hand as I did for about £100. Enjoy it.
