And I would respectfully argue this is wrong,
"I hope that A, he enjoys this period and B settles on someone as these purple patches dont last forever but same time C dont just settle for anyone in this respect."
If he is a good looking guy, who keeps in shape (and preferably his hair), with his own home and his s
t together, there is no reason why this "purple patch" wouldn't go on indefinitely.

He's reached the point the majority rarely get to - escaping the pressures of other people telling him what's 'normal' and doing what he wants. Sounds like a lifetime in the sun.
This is the nail on the head. Thank you. Ill keep my mouth shut and try not to look and sound too envious LOL. rastapasta said:
Im happly married with 3 kids. My best mate is single. Both in our late thirties and friends since school. I had more look there with the opposite sex than him and that carried on through uni although hes always done alright. We were the nerds in school so never really got a look in. Anyway Through no real fault of his own, no relationship has ever worked out for him since and not for the lack of trying.... and now is his day in the sun.. no kids, good job, decent pension nice house nice car etc. He is a man in demand on tinder POF etc. Im delighted for him but I can help thinking about what it would have been like if i were in his shoes. My wife and I met a girl one day at a party, a friend of a friend of hers, this girl was very very nice, the kind of girl who years ago in school we wouldn't even go near, perhaps due to our own lack of confidence. Anyway we mentioned him to her and shes like yes sure give him my number. We show her to him on her fb and hes like 'nah she lives too far away'..... Picky b
d... shes only about 40km away.
Anyway I'm following a few of my old classmates on Insta and one of them is now also single and has been for a while. She was a bit of a cow to us in school as we were nothing but figures of fun to her and her mates, she was ok looking at the time but has since then 'been around the houses' and has a reputation to this end and looks wise is a bit of a hire car. Out of fun I mentioned to him that shes single and the response 'no f**king way in hell...'
I hope that A, he enjoys this period and B settles on someone as these purple patches dont last forever but same time C dont just settle for anyone in this respect. But its drawing the happy medium between the three options. Should I say it to him or let him plough on and hopefully something will come of it, ie hope that he'll be happy one way or another.
Definitely tell him a) you started a thread on pistonheads to share his life and ask for advice for us to give you b) stop having fun now because youre jealous.

What makes you think he isnt hsppy?
I think the internet is the greatest aid to getting laid since alcohol was invented. Like Amazon and its ilk means you can go and find what you want in a few clicks and get it delivered within 24 hours, the same applies to sex to an extent.
I know lads who arent exactly Brad Pitt but are presentable, solvent and pleasant, and without huge amounts of effort can be lined up for a date and quite often it leads to more.
No more relying on meeting someone at work, friend of a friend or hanging round nightclubs trying to look adorable on the off-chance someone will look twice, people on Tinder, POF etc are generally looking for a relationship, sex or both.
The guys I know says it does the ego good and its nice to get some action but most crave more than that, I know as blokes the sow the wild oats thing figures heavily, but perhaps not so much once you are past your early twenties, they have to deal with their fair share of mental as well.
The novelty wears off apparently and it can all feel a bit hollow, just vicarious experience this as I have been married for 25 years so missed out on all the internet thing, no regrets but I think it could have been fun for a while.
