Hi all. Just had word from TUI that Cyprus holiday has been changed from a TUI 737-800 to an A320 operated by Smartlynx which is apparently a Latvian airline ?

Anyone have any experience of them ?

Cheers !

Well I suppose you are right.... Last time I flew on an A320 was about 25 years ago so it may be the same aircraft !

We flew on one last year that was on lease to Jet2, it was an A321, it didn't make the outbound flight as it wouldn't work so we flew out on a Jet2 spare 757. However we did return on it, it was fine, it wasn't in Jet2 colours inside but was no different to any other A321, cabin crew were Smartlynx.

The tell tale sign is the wingtips.

No winglets - be afraid.

Small winglets - not so bad.

Smooth upturned winglets - breath easy.

We're also on a smartlynx flight. Better than being on the 737 MAX it's supposedly subbing for.

Flew Smartlynx a year or two back. Think it was with Tui (or maybe Thomas Cook) as well - I think they bring them in during high season to supplement their fleet. Cabin crew were Tui (or TC) and it was perfectly fine.

Haha Eric the average age of the fleet is around 17 years I think. I have around 200hrs on the a320 in FSX and P3D so have a pretty good idea what’s going on in the cockpit.... For better or worse !
