Had a barbecue at my brothers last night. As we're sat having a chat, about 1 o'clock, the old bill get the copter up to nab some scrote. The heli is circling round a few miles away for something like an hour !. Eventually the noise changes, as he peels away from the action, hopefully chav nabbed, and wheels toward us. When you've had a drink, sometimes you do daft things. I gave him a friendly wave, and a thumbs up , he must have been watching us on the thermal imaging camera. What did he do? flashed us with the spotlight under the copter..........:D

Got a cheer from us :hehe:

Wicked. Got a 'bow' from an army giselle chopper out on salisbury plain some years back. They were buzzing around and we waved @ them near stonehenge. One came back and did the 'bow. So cool

I got shitcanned by a Tornado whilst on detachment in Greece, walking accross the pan on my lonesome with an armful of blanks when he decided to put the wind up me and blasted past from behind about 30 feet above at a squillion knots, the bastard!

Whilst pausing to admire the good work those magnificent boys in their flying machines do, they can (the RAF that is) kiss my rosey red @rse.

Few things in life are more unsettling than scuttling around in the Scottish highlands, only to have the bejesus scared out of you by an airborne James Bond wannabe.

Only last weekend, me and my mate were clambering around Glencoe on a beautiful day, when 4 (count 'em) Tornados blasted past. You could feel the earth move, which is more (allegedly) than Mrs DeMolay feels sometimes...(ahem)!

Sat at the end of Leemings runway about 20 years ago. Probably about 100yds to the right of the centre line. Nothing happening. About midday I spot a Phantom coming down the chute. Watching him through the knocks all looks well. Suddenly I notice he seems to be slightly off the centreline. In fact he's aiming straight for our car !!

When he was about 250yds away he pulled in the gear and lit the burners. Right over the top of us !! I was nearly deaf for 2 days !

On his next circuit the Nav was waving at us as they went past.

M40 northbound, early one summer's morning, two Warthogs decided I looked a likely head-on practice target. Thank goodness for washable seat covers - Streaky

Many years ago as a kid out for a walk over the yorkshire dales with my dad, we got buzzed by a lightning. It was just before they were decommissioned so obviously giving it a good workout. Anyway, if you have seen one in flight you will realise they are f'ing loud.....

Scared the pants off me as a 6 year old.....

Airborne plod in Essex we taking an uncommonly close interest in the White Hart meet today apparently. Hovering above, no less.

I'm not sure how big the convoy was (there were 84 TVRs at the meet including 5 Sagarises), but to their credit they didn't call in any earth-bound colleagues to spoil the party.

They're out of the Imperial War Museum airfield at Duxford. We live near Bedford and see them quite a lot - we must be on one of their standard routes. They make a pleasant change from the w*nkers from Cranfield learning to fly, who go round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round overhead.

Before it was the Bedford Autodrome, Thurleigh Airfield was an MoD/Qinetiq research airfield, so we used to get all kinds of weird and wonderful stuff flapping past at all hours. We've been "strafed" by A10 Warthogs, had a guy standing in the cargo bay of a Chinook wave as they went past at zero feet and had Hercules doing "nap of the Earth" practice as well as Tornados shaking off roof tiles at 2am.

After all that, the Autodrome is a haven of peace and tranquility. It mystifies me why the residents of Thurleigh get so upset.

The Battle of Britain Memorial flight is actually based at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire.
The full flight consists of:

Lancaster x 1
Spitfire x 5
Hurricane x 2
Dakota x 1
Chipmunk x 2

They do also sometimes fly with the Lancaster and two Spitfires, although last weekend they were scheduled to fly with both a Spitfire and a Hurricane unless the Hurricane went U/S.

Here's a shot of Camb's BiB on patrol....

had some great encounters with the raf.. Once I was out rock climbing up the side of a valley, when I was about 2/3 of the way up 4 tornados blasted down the valley below me. That was cool.

Then there was the f22s (yes, really) up in north wales.. and the tornado in aberystwyth that practiced a pop-up run over consitution hill.. great stuff

Last year, on holiday jaunt down south in the TVR, was caning it across Salibury Plain and an Apache (my best guess) slowly rose up over the horizon.

I shat myself, thought it was some new anti-speeding force and they were going to open fire on me with the guns!
