Hi! I’ve a Date Sub which I can’t wear to work as I would ruin it, so it sits in the drawer a lot of the time.
Took it out the other weekend to wear out, began winding and the hands made an odd twitch, and the winder felt a bit loose (like not connected, but it is, as I can still set the time/date etc)
It’s had a mainspring before, and I suspect it’s the same fault, who’s best to do it?
I used Martins in Glasgow before, and it was fine, but they took a good while with it. I’d like it back a bit quicker if poss.
(I used to know a brilliant Rolex tech who would open and fix them on the spot, sadly he’s no longer with us)
Thanks

Not used him but he seems very good at what he does.

Have used https://www.tomcolljewellery.co.uk/ in Glasgow onmultiple occasions and they have always been great
Are people not bothered about using an accredited repairer? I’m surprised people aren’t concerned about using companies without the relevant training and equipment to repair to Rolex standards
There are other great accredited options available not posted so far, but I’d personally not put my faith in someone who’s not invested in the brand!

“ Accreditation & Equipment
Our watchmaker is Rolex Accredited and our workshop is a Breitling Officially Certified Service Centre and OMEGA authorized service centre. This illustrates the high level of quality that is adhered to. ”

Sorry for confusion, that was the prior link I’d posted “ Accreditation & Equipment

All the other so far have been non accredited, so wouldn’t be using appropriate machinery for case finishing etc. I’m surprised so many would be happy with this as generally there’s a feeling of Rolex UK only on here!
Just a bit of clarity, not that anyone is asking for it, but you know.
There are only 5 Rolex accredited workshops in the UK outside of Rolex themselves.
By that I mean, “full” Rolex accredited. Ie. They have all of the machinery to do the case work correctly, they have all of the correct tools to do the job correctly and finally, they have had a workshop built specifically by Rolex and approved by them.
There is one in Bond Street Rolex Boutique.
There is one in Middlesbrough Goldsmiths.
There is one in Newcastle Northern Goldsmiths.
There is one in Old Trafford, ran by Watches of Switzerland.
And BristolBarrons FIL has one. Which he alluded to.
There are still many other independent Rolex Accredited watchmakers, who have been trained in the past by Rolex Switzerland or UK.
At the moment, they are able to get supply of Materials from Rolex UK, but soon they will have a visit and after that, they will not be able to get material or advertise that they are Rolex accredited.
They are adequately qualified to service Rolex watches, but they don’t have the modern tooling and they don’t have the machinery to re-finish the cases to a standard that Rolex would approve of.
As has been said, there are an astonishing amount of people who are happy to have their watch serviced by someone who isn’t even “old school” accredited. Just a guy with some tools.
Bottom line is, if you love your watch and you want to take care of it, use a Rolex approved workshop.
That is all.
End of line..........

Worked offshore in the construction industry for most of it. The only time I didn't wear it was when I was deployed to offshore Africa for obvious reasons.

I work in aviation engineering. If I’d worn any watch since I started 39 years ago it’d either be totally ruined, or be like Trigger’s broom
