Hi Guys, I am in the process of aquiring my first HSV, which all being well will be a 5.0 Clubsport(budget wont stretch any more!). Any comments or problems to look out for would be apprieciated, also a lead on the best way to go about about uprating the exhaust as I want to hear my Holden! ha ha. Hope to see you at some of the events soon.

Most of the guys are at a meet today, but probably your first ports of call would be Wortech or Linden Special Vehicles. Have a look at www.hsvdriversclub.co.uk and click on tuners.

Hi Mike and welcome

Wortec for the zorst system.

As for the 5 litre not sure on the probs.

Only things to watch for from my experience are drive line rubber donut and condition of claipers (not sure which you'll have).

Which car are you buying?

Thanks for the replies guys, its a red over silver clubsport, its a 1999 model, one of the last with the 5.0ltr engine from what i can make out. Its had new discs all round in 2004 but has a bit of brake judder from the front, the calipers look original but none are sticking at all. Got the number for Mark at Linden and plan to give him a call first thing for a chat as they have done most of the work on it anyway. Its done a lot of miles this one(90000) but it is in amazing condition. All being well I should have the car next week and Im bound to have loads of questions so Im glad you guys are around! Ha Ha. PS Thanks for the advice on the exhaust, i will check it out

Never could spell proper like!!

Hi Mike

Mine has a bit of mild brake judder sometimes, I've checked out the discs etc and can find nothing wrong.
Might be slight wear in suspension bushes? maybe, I don't really know?
I think i know the car you are buying, it's a good one-I was thing of buying it myself! It's a real Holden!, with a proper Holden engine!! It only lives one mile from me (at the moment)
I have a really good oz workshop manual if you need to look.
Send me an e-mail if you like (on profile)

I've been driving a 5 ltr HSV for a month rated at 195 Kw, great engine with potentially a fantastic soundtrack if a better exhaust was fitted.

I doubt if anyone in the UK has a map for it but Wortec will be able to do it for you, again Wortec are producing exhausts for Monaro currently (I have to wait for Clubsport version)so another wait but Power Flo exhausts via Top Gear distributors will be able to make one from scratch using some of the original bits (like the 'h' pattern in the middle).

Hope this is of some small help

I was thinking about the same vehicle I suspect. If you fancy an upgrade engine-wise check out comeracing.com they have turnkey Holden V8 strokers which will blow any of the other stock LS1 HSV's away.. Mind you be prepared to cough up £8K or so.
