Thirty three years ago on this day the Herald of Free Enterprise capsized just outside the port of Zeebrugge with the loss of one hundred and ninety three lives .
We remember them every year in my town as it was home to many of the crew .
RIP to those poor souls .

I remember this being on the news when I was very young.
Two disasters that stuck in my head from my first memories of starting to watching the news, those being the ferry capsize at Zeebrugge and also the Lockerbie 747 crash the year after.

In all disasters its important to remember them and take as many lessons learnt for the future.

I remember seeing it unfold on the TV screens in an electrical store, a terrible, terrible event that ought never to have happened. RIP to all those who died.
