Morning all, collective mechanical wisdom sought....

I replaced the front discs and pads on OH’s Fiesta yesterday and during test there was a significant grinding noise. Revisited this morning and it seems that the pad spring clips/retainers are contacting on the rim of the disc.

Are the pad retainers an expected ‘service’ item when overhauling front brakes? I’ve removed and re-seated the pads but it appears to no different....

Many thanks!

Daft question maybe but are you sure the disc is the right one? Perhaps a few millimetres bigger diameter. How far from the disc edge is the pad material?

No such thing in my book...

Disc options were far enough apart that the ones I bought are the correct ones. Talking feeler-gauge tolerances - thou, rather than mm... have disassembled and ‘tweaked’ the springs so will see how we go this time...

Post a picture and I'm sure someone will have the answer.

All fixed. New pad retainers solved the problem. Thank you, EuroCarParts, for being open all day Saturday and keeping stuff like this in stock.

The negligible benefit being, if anyone needs Mk6 Fiesta brakes done, I’ve got it down to about 30minutes all in laugh
