I needed a new car to run as an economical daily. I tried a couple of cars but they didn’t hit the mark, I knew I wanted another Alfa.

I found one I liked the look of that was in budget, excellent. However, the car was in Glasgow, and I am not. Still the car looked good in the photos and the video the dealer sent over so I reserved it with the view to picking it up as soon as I could get there

Booked my tickets to fly up to Glasgow from Birmingham

Less than 48 hours to go...

Ah.

Never mind, booked train tickets to leave on Saturday morning instead.

Got to the dealership for lunch time, car was sat outside ready to go. Went for a test drive, did the deal and headed on out

The plan was to head north into the highlands for the night, stopping near Loch Ness, visiting Glen Coe, Glen Etive, Ben Nevis

We did our best Skyfall impressions

That was as far north as we went, we drove then the 8 hours back home yesterday after a 1000 mile round trip

The car needs a clean now

Nice.

I’ve owned 9 Alfa’s including 2 Giuliettas and currently have a Mito and a Brera.

What economy did you get over the 1000 miles?

Nice, this one is my 7th I’ve still got a 147 (admittedly I’ve had it for 8 years and its on borrowed time before it goes to the great scrapyard in the sky) and 916 spider

It did 56 mpg and 650 miles to the tank so was happy with that, hoping for over 60 on the commute

Are you sure you're in the right place? smile

Excellent choice OP - and a stylish way to collect and get to know the car!

ETA: Currently have 12 on the road and a few "projects"

Beautiful colour.

I’ve had at least one (often more) Alfa as a driver for the last 30years. Currently getting around in a black GQV with all the toys. Would love a blue one but there must be less than ten blue GQV here in Australia. So it’s a 3M wrap or Misano Blue Stelvio if I ever get flush again, or bored (not yet, in 30yrs).

How was the car for a long journey for NVH? A mate of mine has gone from a 320D coupe, to a 320D touring, to a Z4, to a 318D touring and now his commute is alot closer to home is looking at finally getting a Alfa. The Petrol cloverleaf is his choice but is desperate for feedback. I'm trying to sway him but he's still on the fence!

Nice colour too! Blue and red for me on the Giuliettas!

Cheers for the comments all, I’m happy with it so far!

First things first I’ve ordered some mats for the car

The dealership do transport cars to other branches if it meets criteria, this one didn’t but it did mean we got a weekend away and saw some sights we’d never have been to otherwise

Thanks, I’d have loved a GQV, maybe one day if the commute allows it. We went to Australia last year and I said at the time I’d have to import my spider if we moved, they hold their value much better over there laugh

It’s a nice car to drive, to be honest even for a diesel it is fairly quiet, we did 5 hours of the journey back without stopping so it wasn’t uncomfortable. I’ve not driven a petrol one but I’m sure it’d be less nose heavy. My only complaint with the driving position is it doesn’t have a foot rest by the clutch pedal and it’s taken some getting used to
