Who's isolated themselves yet, any hints or tips?
Who's planning on it?
What kind of work do you do?
I'm in IT and can work from home but I can tell they really don't want me to!
Seems a world of difference between what the government would suggest, and what companies really want.

My son and I have been told to self isolate after returning from a ski trip to Italy on Sunday.

It’s claimed this is based on medical advice, but it think it’s largely due to pressure from parents of children who didn’t go on the trip, as the government advice for people returning from the area of Italy we went to (Aosta Valley - fewer cases than the region of the UK we’ve returned to) - is to do nothing unless displaying symptoms.

Bored already. Did a lot of gardening yesterday, played here PlayStation a bit with my son, but will struggle to entertain ourselves.

Holy Cow Batman......I did it to, wasn’t even sure why until I saw the Italian Job photo. Which is a mirror of what’s going on at the mo - bus load of people hanging over the precipice of an Italian cliff edge.....

Scary times.

I'd rather be exposed to one than the other.

It's now recommended to isolate for anyone returning from anywhere in Italy as the whole country is in "Lockdown"

I see that the advice was changed this morning, we returned on Sunday and started to self isolate then as we’d been directed.

One of the problems the news has been stating is that people could have the coronavirus, and not even know it, but at the moment self isolation, and washing hands / keeping away from other people seems to be all we have currently got to help limit the spread of the disease.
I can only speak for myself of course, but If I had returned from one of the areas where the disease is rife, or growing quickly, and ignored the self isolation recommendations, only to discover that I had passed it on to other members of my family, friends, the local school etc, I would be deeply upset at the least, and even more so, if someone less able to deal with it, died from contracting the disease, which even unwittingly I had passed on to them.
In the original thread about coronavirus, I suggested that despite the improvements in medical treatment, this could be worse than the Spanish flu which killed many thousands after WW1, because modern transport links, backed by the sheer number who now are able to travel around the world (especially by air travel) had the potential to spread it around the entire world, quite quickly, rather than just around the continent where it originated.

The Spanish Flu pandemic after the first world war killed more people that the war did. It estimated to have killed between 17 and 50 MILLION people, with some estimates as high as 100 million. Anyway, as you were.
