Morning all.

I replaced the cams in my 1.8 k series. All has gone ok up until me getting it all back together and me trying to time it up.

Everything is back where it was when it came off. All the makings line up. However I can't seem to turn the engine (by hand only still). I get to 90 ish degrees and it loads up. The plugs are out so I'd wouldn't expect to much resistance. It's like a spring resistance rather than a dead stop if the makes sense.

Am I being a baby and just need to pull harder or have I done something wrong?? I'm only using a 12" spanner.

I'll upload some photos to show the timing.

Have you turned the engine over by hand previously? You may just be feeling it coming up to a cam lobe.

Yeah, I've moved it a few times. I did wonder if it was the cam springs providing the resistance but it felt way too much.

As it happens I've found the issue. Some donkey left it in gear!! silly
