Concerned about tyres on Vantage supplied by Aston Brentwood
Discussion
Hi All,
I purchased a 2009 Vantage Roaster from Aston Martin Brentwood in October of last year.
I have had concerns about relatively low levels of grip from the Bridgestones fitted to it.
To my surprise, when I checked the tyres they are dated 49th week of 2012 (rears) and 11th week of 2013 (fronts).
They are also showing cracks on the tyre surface.
I am right to be concerned about the age of the tyres supplied with the car?
And if so what sort of recourse do you think would be reasonable and fair.
Many thanks in advance

Surely now that it's your car, they're your tyres to do as you wish with.
I suspect that AM are responsible for selling a car with an MOT and that includes legal tyres, which they've done.
I suppose shy bairns get nowt so you could ask but I suspect that the answer will be similar to the top line of my post.

Good luck with Brentwood Aston. Caveat emptor springs to mind. as the car appears to have been legal when you bought it.
You might get a contribution, but not very likely - put it down to experience.
It's a good opportunity to get rid of the Bridgestones, an outdated design and rubber composition. Fit Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (fronts around £140 each, rears around £175 each) and you'll be astounded by the improvement in grip and stability. Combine it with a Hunter geometry alignment (of 20-odd parameters, 1 of mine was within spec! The techs said they doubted that the car had ever been aligned properly in 11 years). The grip and stability will improve by another order.

That's fairly common with those tyres , mine had the same and was noted on the mot . I think the Bridgestones have quite poor grip compared with more modern tyres anyway . I don't imagine the dealer will be interested .
Certain elements on cars deteriorate with age not mileage , tyres , rubber seals , bodywork etc . Timing cover gaskets go due to lack of use .... I'd be checking that too...

If you want new tyres buy a new car, not sure how much you expect the dealer to pay out for? If they did everything on a used car it would have been selling for £10k more than any other.
I think Brentwood are excellent and bought my car from Stratstone who shall we say were terrible until they has the car back for two weeks to correct all the issues.
On a used car over 6 months old since you bought it, just find a good deal and get some new rubber
