Bespoke/Made to order shoes

I really do not know where this should go so Mods please feel free to move but posted here for traffic purposes initially.

My son has now outgrown ready made shoes. He's just turned 14, has adult size 14 or more feet (depending on who measures them!) that are incredibly wide and arches that always cause fitting issues so now I guess I'm looking at made to measure/bespoke shoes/Cobbler - I'm not familiar with the correct terminology for this. I guess at 14 he has some years of growing still to do too!

Does anyone have any recommendations of where I should be looking? We live in Surrey but due to my mobility issues going someone within Central London is out the question so I'm looking for a company that I can drive too.

All my google hits are for places in Central London and because I'm not sure on the terminology I'm not sure I'm getting all the results I could.

PS - I'm his Mum so that is my excuse for not knowing anything about Men's shoes! Any assistance would very much be appreciated and because these will be school shoes mainly and used to kick a ball around the playground - I'm looking at the cheaper end of the market and will wait for the more expensive stuff when he's left school and stopped growing!

I suspect you would be better looking a quick Google on broad fitting men's shoes, and trying the results. Places like Jacomo, some Clarks.
They are going to be substantially cheaper than bespoke shoes, probably much tougher (which would suit the appalling way teenagers treat their shoes), and probably better styles than the orthopaedic shows out there.

I also had size 14 feet at 14, but thankfully they stopped there! The selection is a lot better than it used to be, but unfortunately you will likely find stuff more pricey than the usual high street stuff. A good selection of stuff available online. Walktall are good (but more expensive), and you can actually get a fairly good selection from Ebay/Amazon (just filter by size) which is where I tend to get most of mine nowadays. I guess it could be more complicated if he's got funny arches, so if needs to try on, then the High and Mighty stores generally stock a selection of them too. I guess if looking at London way that might make it easier in terms of stores/availability.

Sorry, just re-read about being more tricky to get into London.

At least when you find some you can use the giant shoe boxes to live in when you can't afford a house as spent all your money on shoes

Agree, you just want somewhere that stocks big shoes rather than bespoke.
