Hello!

I have a 2008 Dodge Nitro 2.8 automatic diesel with a major electrical problem

So, I start the car, all is fine. After about 30 seconds of driving, my EPS/PAS light comes on followed by a fluctuating rev counter needle and I have a box around all the PRND letters as though the car’s confused what gear it’s in. In reverse, the airbag light flickers on and off along with the reversing lights

Been for diagnostic test which came back as 27 faults, main one being parking sensor 8 and 9. The cars parking sensor system is constantly showing an amber light with SERVICE PARKING ASSIST displayed on start up. Maybe coincidence but my electrical problems always start with the EPS/PAS warning when taking my foot OFF the accelerator and turning right ...but I can’t say that’s the case every time

Would a faulty parking sensor really cause all these problems? ...especially when I’m driving in a straight line and the car wouldn’t be requesting assistance from the reversing assist?

I spoke to a so called “Dodge specialist” who basically said I could have an earthing fault and could cost thousands in labour just finding the issue and to get rid but it’s not that easy to do for me.

I’ve tried disconnecting the battery and even bought a new battery and the electronics are crazy for the first 48 hrs then one by one the warnings drop off and the car settles down as though it’s gradually accepting the faults leaving the first faults mentioned

Someone PLEASE help me

Kind regards

Andy
