'PC Harper murder trial: Officer 'dragged behind car for more than a mile''

How, in the name of all that's holy, could someone be such a **** as to do that! (Allegedly, as the trial is still ongoing!)

Read that and felt worse than I did when it originally happened.

Had assumed he'd been knocked down then dragged under the cat potentially not suffering too much.

Sadly reading this news his death would have been horrifically terrifying and painful.

Absolute tts.

I've read all the details - it's absolutely sickening.

The accused unhitched the quad they were towing, and his feet were caught by the loose rope when they made their escape. I'll stop there.

Smiler.

I read some of the evidence submitted.

Hopefully, the jury will see right through the perp's pathetic "defence" against murder & they'll go away for an appropriate term.

Any other outcome would be a travesty.

Thoughts go to the family & colleagues.

My blood ran cold when I read the description of what happened to PC Harper.
The alleged perpetrators were later arrested and a travellers camp. It's hard not to come to conclusions about happened, but justice must take its course.

If the three are found guilty, then I hope that prison is a living hell for them, for the rest of their lives.

Rest in peace PC Andrew Harper. I hope your family are granted closure.

It sounds truly awful. He was dragged for a mile while the bds tried to shake him loose by swerving from side to side.

He was still alive when his colleagues found him. Sickening.

They are almost literally outlaws. Apart from when it suits them of course.

Probably get a massive pat on the back when they go inside for killing a cop.

s, it's utterly sickening I can only hope they get an aggressively form of cancer in their lives and suffer hugely all whilst doing 30 years minimum. Which I doubt they'll even get close to either. s.

It's made me feel sick all day.
Words can't describe how low the utter scum are, that did this. Hopefully no quibbling over the murder conviction and a very very long sentence in the worst place the UK prison system can find.

The details in that article are just horrible, what a way to die. Poor chap.

I fail to see how they can't have known what they were doing based on what I've read.

In the past I've wondered why manslaughter wasn't the charge here, like you I assumed the defendants were unaware he was trapped under the vehicle and that they weren't actually trying to kill him. Clearly this wasn't the case.

Evil savages.

I suspect by the time they had driven off and then realised he was stuck behind they were pretty much committed because they would have been fked if they had stopped anyway (I suspect he would have been seriously injured by then)

Not condoning what they did of course

The arguments about murder will be interesting because based on what I have read it doesn't sound like they intended to kill him when they drove off and if they were swerving to get him off is that the same as intending to murder or cause serious harm? The intention surely is just to get him off the car.

Intention to cause GBH is sufficient for murder.

Perhaps a tall order also.

One of the most harrowing news reports I have ever seen. Poor poor man; what an awful way to go. I'm a firm believer that capital punishment has no place in civilised sentencing; that has been seriously shaken today. Sickening.

Happened local to me (at the time)

the whole community was in shock, it was on boards outside every newsagent, front page of newbury news for days

proper sickening to think about it , i have a friend , (who i really should try to talk more to ! ) , in TVP and i think about if it was him how i'd feel (pretty sad!)

literally nothing i can say that would express the horror of the event .
