£80k. So it's for rich Londoners who want to beat the congesion charge.

At some point someone is going to start doing conversions like this for a decent price. I suspect that company will do very well.

There's an Australian guy on YouTube doing a conversion himself for a lot less than 80k.

If there were kits available they could be quite popular.

At £80k it's a millionaire's toy.

A nice toy and an interesting proof of concept for their EV crate conversion.

Not unreasonable for a fully restored classic car with a brand new custom developed powertrain that doesn't impact interior space (in fact, gives more luggage space) and doesn't make it absurdly heavy either.

Give it 10 years and there'll be a nice supply of used EV parts from crashed/scrapped cars perfect for DIY projects along these lines, for those of us with smaller budgets.

I commented yesterday on Johnny’s video that I felt this is what David Brown Automotive should have done with their Mini Remastered. Completely new EV power train combined with what they do with the bodyshell and interior, and that makes sense at that money. To charge nigh-on £100k and leave a wheezy old A-Series in it however just seems like madness to me!

But in the larger world, I agree that as EVs become more commonplace and parts can be salvaged from crashed cars (assuming they are safe, of course) then replacing ICE in classics that are plentiful in number (Mini’s, Beetles, 911’s, etc) I think gives them a new lease of life and interest from a new generation who like the look of an old car, but can’t get to grips with the mechanics of it.

If anyone wants to buy and convert my Bentley T2 into an EV, I’m all ears.......!!

would be interesting to see if you could get it registered as an EV with TFL

i would rather pay the extra and get one of these

As for Johnny's video, it was a bit rambly with a lot of repetition, could have cut 5-10 mins from it

http://londonelectriccars.com will do the above conversion for £25,000. Still a lot of money but quite a saving over the Swind-E?

I wish Zero motorcycles would sell more bikes in this country, and then owners can crash them (without injury) as they make a great basis for light cars like this for a relatively little outlay.

Interesting. You can pick up a mint last of the line Cooper Sport for under £20k.
