This is clearly not my main concern, but before getting more serious with getting one, I would appreciate any indications of what kind of fuel economy that can be expected for fast-ish (100 mph cruising) motorway driving (in Europe), and what range it would have under these circumstances?

Thanks!

Bearing in mind that my car has covered over 100k so may not be quite as efficient as it maybe once was, I get around 20 - 21mpg when cruising at 90-100mph. This kind of average will get about 300 - 350 miles out of a tank, which in the uk costs £65 to fill with optimax.

For the record with continuos driving in town. expect to see a mere 12mpg.

Over the 7000 miles I've covered since buying my car I have averaged 18mpg in total.

I hope that helps!

Regards,

Iain

Thanks Iain!

I thought I had read the fuel tank was 81 litres, so was hoping for slightly longer range. 20 mpg would be around 8 km/l?

Have a MB C43 (which after an accident and run-away driver last week may be a write-off...) which has a pitiful 63 litres tank and average about 7,5 km/l at brisk motorway driving, which works out at a range of 400 - 450 km.

Yep - 81 litres. Doesn't get you far these days, but you do enjoy getting there!

I mainly use normal unleaded 95 Ron. Occasionaly treating it to a tank of super unleaded 97 Ron, say every 10 tank fulls. Don't notice any difference.

I find I get slightly better mileage out of decent (ie not Supermarket) fuel. I havent tried Optimax yet, does it make much difference? if so to power or mileage (or both?).

For the record my R has done around 50k miles and returns around 19mpg on average (wearing quite heavy boots!). She did 27mpg recently on a quick run from Kent to Edinburgh and back (around 880 miles).
