I bought a MK 7.5 Golf GTi in January from a main VW dealer. Last week I hit a nasty pothole and as a result the NSF tyre has a split in the sidewall.(thankfully it's not losing pressure) I made a booking with Kwik-Fit to come out and replace both front tyres - this was supposed to be today. A couple of days ago I checked to make sure the locking wheel nut key is there, but it's missing. I contacted the dealer on Monday, but have yet to hear back. I'm assuming they'll need to order a replacement wheel nut key - has anyone had to do this before, and if so roughly how long did the replacement take to arrive?

If it's the original set, the Dealer should have a master set, you need to get a wheel nut to them (either on the car or not) and they should be able to work out which replacement key you need.

Ok thanks. Not ideal as they're about 50 miles from me, plus it's my daily driver and I need to get this tyre replaced. They can't provide a replacement key by using the VIN then?

Think they're normally fitted by the dealer rather than at the factory
