Best online site for selling bike
Discussion
Hi All,
I've already posted an ad in Pistonheads as its free as a member. Im a little out of touch as to where is best to post an advert for selling a second hand bike these days. Is Autotrader still considered the best site with most coverage, or have folks had better results using MCN, or forum based sales?
Thanks for any feedback before I spend a bunch of money on ads!!

Well if it was up for 'little money,' no wonder! Many people use Facebook marketplace because it's convenient, and free, and I'm convinced sellers think they'll get less hassle. Scammers use FB too, but almost half the population don't.
So you're limiting the potential buying audience. Everybody with the internet at home or a smart phone can access ebay, gumtree, PH, etc.

Agreed. But I wanted to shift it quickly so listed it on eBay and Facebook. I used to use Ebay to sell everything but the fees can be crippling. So you're limiting the potential buying audience. Everybody with the internet at home or a smart phone can access ebay, gumtree, PH, etc.
I'm sure plenty of those people were time wasters and in fact I may have listed it too cheaply as I got about 60 messages over about 3 hours and sold it for almost the asking price.
Just saying dont discount it

The last couple I have bought have been on ebay. I've also looked at facebook marketplace and bought parts etc from there, enquired over a couple of bikes both of which sold really quickly before I got to them.
I find the owners groups on fb they undervalue bikes as they all want a deal and generally talk the values down as they already own them and would like another as a bargain, whereas excited punters looking for their dream bike make better buyers. It's easy to peruse ebay and fb, auto trader, mcn etc are clunky and require owners to spend more time putting ads together. I still check them out and classic and car for the dearer stuff but on the latter, bikes tend to be at max money and sit on there for years!!

t you don't want when scanning for bikes on MCN are crazy. Puts me off looking for a bike on there and also therefore advertising one.
