Hi All,

Doing a bit of market research at work. Could anybody list a few EV Charger manufacturers? Not distributors but companies that actually design and manufacture the chargers. Preferably UK based but any would be helpful.

Thanks

I’m trying to justify the additional cost to install one. The problem is it’s nicer than my house!

EO Charging - there's some good info about them and Charlie Jardine who set the company up (we fit their chargers).

Have a look here, they aren't all UK made but it's a pretty big list to pick from:

When I wanted an Andersen the lead time was something like 12 weeks, so I got an EO mini instead

Thanks all, you are saving me a lot of time - it's hard on a google search sometimes to weed out the manufacturers from just the distributors and installers.

Beware of Andersen. They went on Speak EV hawking their product but it was quickly discovered that it's laughable insecure. They were using encryption that was declared dead in the late 90s!

I would be extremely careful about connecting one to your wifi, it's like an easy way for hackers to get in.

PS. Rolec make reasonable chargers.

If you're going to be crtical off one company, Rolec have had lots off issues with components burning out, be only fare to point out those failings

Not sure what you're trying to say. This may have been a bad batch, may have been under spec'd. the only point I'm making is they've not been blemish free in the past

Recommended by Porsche so must have passed their due diligence

We looked at their chargers but the total install costs were around £2000! Lovely looking and they are well in with Porsche but that's still a lot of money for a charger.

I had an Andersen A2 fitted this week. Can't report on how well it works as my Tesla doesn't arrive until next week. I can tell you however that it looks very nice and has been installed extremely neatly (no wires of cables on show at all).

For installers I did a bit of background and chose a company called Elecology. I would wholeheartedly recommend them as from initial communication through to the thoroughness and quality of the install, they were extremely good. I have no affiliation with them at all, merely wanting to share details of a company that have provided a great service.

Yes, I had one. Replaced the RCBO myself. That was a six year old model though, they changed to more reliable ones years ago.

The thing that makes the Rolec ones good is that they are simple. Very little to go wrong and very easy to fix if they do. These smart ones are not only more complex and insecure but you can bet that they won't be supported for very long. I have devices that won't connect to my wifi any more because they don't support WPA2 and everything else is insecure. How long do you expect your charger to last?

I found the thread on SpeakEV about them: https://www.speakev.com/threads/how-much-would-pay...

It looks like they are clueless and have no ability to fix their gaping security holes.
