Hi, I have a spare £1000 sitting in a savings account doing basically nothing. Any shares i could buy in the current state of things and see a return in a year or two hopefully. Thank you
If you lost 20-40% of that £1000 after a year or two are you comfortable with that level of potential loss? You could make 20-40% too but there are no guarantees.Evoluzione said:

A bit harsh. Mind you the font of all knowledge the BBC can't spell 'immunologist', according to the captions on today's lunchtime news. That's arts graduates for you.Oil. Or anything that's taken a beating and pays a good dividend. But as said don't be upset if they fall after you've bought them. They will recover and you will get a dividend.

Well indeed, shares in oil companies. I'll leave the OP to do his research as to which one/s to choose. I would buy more but my main supply of chess pieces is rather tied up at present.£1,000 isn't much to invest, but on the plus side, if the shares halve in value you've only lost £500... and don't forget the dividends.
