Right..the law isn't clear..to me at least here. I run my van with M&S tyr on the back...always have done...RWD empty vans don't generally get out of fields in Scotland very well...BUT....whilst the law allows us to have M&S tyres that are rated at less than the badged speed rating for the van ( Although ...the van doesn't have a 'dual' rating ...so ...nobody seems clear on what the lower limit is for M&S on any particular vehicle ) AND the law allows for M&S on one axle and regular tyres on the other axle.....surely, the non M&S tyres no longer need to be at the 'badged' speed rating....the whole van is surely downrated to the speed of the M&S tyres?

ie;- Van rated S .....

M&S rated R on the back, STD tyres rated S on the front = legal

M&S rated R on the back, STD tyres rated R on the front = legal or not ?

Who is making it a problem for you or is it just a general question?

I'm not aware of it being "illegal" to have different speed rated tyres.
