I know this is going to be completely non-scientific but my 928's been repainted in the past so the paint code on the stickers doesn't match the car.

I've got a suspicion it's Lapis blue, it's an 89 S4 which i think may have been repainted to look like the a later GT. It pops in the sun but with the current UK weather it can look a pretty flat navy. Has anyone got any thought's?

The paint's pretty awful and it really needs a full glassout respray which is not an option but I need to pick an aerosol or two to sort out some of the worst bits.

It could be any blue from any manufacturer in all honesty. It looks similar to my Ocean Blue 996, as in the sun it comes out like that. Have you got a paint supplier near you? I needed some paint for my VW Beetle years ago, I took the glovebox off and they matched it to that. Maybe give a couple a call and see if they can match it to your car if you take it to them?

It does look very similar in that sort of light to my Lapis blue 996.

Cobalt is lighter in the sun than this one. It's closer to BMW Estroril blue than this in all honesty, this looks a fair few shades darker

Another vote for Lapis blue from me. I've had an Estoril blue car, and it wasn't as dark as the colour in your picture.

Do you have other photos of your car in different lights, as that may help narrow down the options.

Thanks for the suggestions so far and although it could be any old metallic blue I've got a feeling its been kept a Porsche colour.

It's going in for some welding shortly, but once it's back I'll take it to a few local places to see if they can help

Here's a few more pictures

If you can see turquoise in the paint when the sun hits it. Then its Ocean Blue Metallic. Stunning colour.
Not the greatest picture but it might help

I had a porsche 928 S2 which had a full body respray in a colour not unlike this,it was a later porsche colour, the car was silver originally.

Mine was originally marine blue metallic, I know this from the sticker in the boot, and also the door shuts, under the petrol flap, under the bonnet.. 🙄

The car i owned had a full respray so those areas where done, but not the engine compartment,I sold it to a porsche dealer/repairer.I am not sure its my old car but the colour and glass scratches on the driver door look the same.

Looks like Iris Blue metallic which was a standard Porsche colour in the early to mid-1990s.
