Exactly the same symptoms as mine, turned out to be UJ's. With the back end of the car up on stands the wheel would moove up and down. If you get someone to moove the wheel you should be able to see moovement in the joint. Hope this helps. www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=172302&f=12&h=0

Had similar symptoms on my 400..ie when driving, the body of the car (offside) would rise and and fall with each revolution of the wheel. Turned out to be seized UJ's..worth checking

It's best to start checking for free play in the wheel bearings and UJ's.

Wheel bearings (jacked up) push pull top and bottom of wheel and feel for movement..

UJ's - try to rotate / back & forwards driveshafts using the wheel whilst holding the drive shaft. You are looking for and free play in the UJ's.

Symptoms are similar to 'wheel bearing' above, but can also see drive shaft UJ's articulate as wheel is moved top at bottom.

Any thoughts

jack car up with the hand brake on and try to move wheel left and rihgt if its a uj you should see the play in the uj. would help if you had a second pair of hands to look at uj at same time
