So I just watched the Bamford Rose video on detailing. I was thinking of getting my v12v detailed and ceramic coated. Is it worth the £1000 odd that I have been quoted so far? I live in York, anyone recommend someone and what I should be looking to pay? Is ceramic coating worth it? I'll be honest it's all a bit alien to me. My daily driver gets a hose pipe and a sponge once in a blue. Appreciate people's percpective.

I was a bit confused by the vid..
Costs can be high depending on what's required..doing a rub down with 2500 for instance is a long job which needs extreme care to not damage anything. So obviously takes many hours.
But even without that process,removing wheels and getting into all the awkward places on a car to do a 'deep clean' takes a long time.

As for comparison to body shops,I'm not convinced. Many produce a good shine but not necessarily without flaws and of course not without high end coatings which may need long curing times.

I've always used decent waxes. However I have used a ceramic coating on my V8 and do find the water sheets off very well,especially when using a blower to dry.
I've never paid anyone to do it because I like to have a go myself.

I've had quite a few cars detailed and ceramic coated . Don't think I've paid more than £450-£500 , but it really depends on how good or bad the paintwork is and therefore how much work is required to get it sorted .
Well worth doing IMO as it makes it really easy to keep the cars clean and reduces the risk of damage as a result on washing .

And regarding the Bamford Rose video …. he says detailing is no better than a body shop should do but I've had many brand new cars detailed because the paint is to a certain standard that may be acceptable generally but not to me . And there are body shops and body shops , so take his video with a ( usual) pinch of salt ….

I’ve used Mark at GT Performance detail in York on my v12v and maclarens and Glyn at Elite detailing in Stamford bridge. Unless your car needs a lot of paint correction then you should be looking at around £400-£500 for a good detail and ceramic coating. I would highly recommend both. Glyn has the advantage that he will come to you but unless you have good garage space then it might be best to let the detailer have the car for a couple of days as the coating needs time to cure.

It is worth getting it done because;
1/ they will have the car looking like it’s brand new. The attention to detail is immense
2/ it will make looking after the car much easier. With a ceramic coating it just needs a quick wash when dirty to make it look great again. So if like me, you don’t; want to spend hours making the car look good yourself then it’s a great way to make this easy.

Thanks for the recommendation. Will look into that after service etc. Does that price include interior and wheels?
