981 GT4 - Dark Blue Metallic
Discussion
Hello all!
Having had a 987 S and later a 981 S (both manual) it was only a matter of time till this happened!
It's not twice the car the S was, despite being twice the price. However it feels and looks so much more special, I couldn't be happier.
It's a rather rare car, in that it's painted in Dark Blue Metallic - a colour which was only available right at the start of the production run and thus many orders were cancelled as they removed it early on. As far as I can find it's the rarest of the non-PTS colours. I was after a Sapphire blue car but after seeing this I had to have it! I intentionally went for a more 'touring' bias spec - I intend to use it properly unlike the previous owners so I want to put some mileage on it! Having spent a good bit of time in both buckets and sport plus seats, I went for the latter.
GT4 prices are certainly relaxing a little now, though I can't imagine them dropping below 60 any time soon. I've just picked up the car from a couple of weeks of tinkering. The car was previously wrapped to a very high standard and then unwrapped very poorly by the seller so it required disassembling again. We then PPF'd the front, detailed the entire car and ceramic coated it along with a wheel repaint. If you're based in Sussex / Surrey I can't recommend Refined Detail any more, Rich is the best of the best. I'm over the moon with how it's turned out - I've not seen a GT4 I prefer!
Anyway.. enough babble. Photos.

Lovely car OP! Very very nice!
I’ve spent a fair bit of time in GT4s and they’re cracking cars on road and track.
Welcome to the law of diminishing returns though. As you say when they cost double they often aren’t twice as good, but how could they be when they’re all so good already?
The amount they are better by though and the area's they’re better in, definitely justifies the extra spend.
Enjoy it!

Man of superb taste , i specced my new GT4 back in 2015 in dark blue metallic and never regretted it. Looks absolutely fantastic, especially when it’s sunny. Swapped it for a new GT3 touring and was really gutted I couldn’t choose DBM and had to go with sapphire instead and don’t like it anywhere near as much. Ho hum, first world problems.

That looks so beautifully understated!
In a world of shouty cars, with shouty paint, little performance, sequential gearboxes, 4WD, small turbocharged engines ... this is the breath of fresh air we all need! Everything is right about this car.
Loveliest car I’ve seen all year. Congrats!
