I am of the age group who are going to be confined to barracks shortly.

Which is the best online delivery service for food and grocery stuff?

Cheapest? Most efficient?

Which one do you use - and why?

Good luck with that.

I am already pretty much housebound (chronic lung condition, so also a high risk category). I can no longer get a Sainsbury's delivery. A couple of weeks back I could order on Friday afternoon for pretty much my delivery slot of choice the following day.

Not Ocado. They're terrible. Definitely not Ocado. Remember, not Ocado.

I live in Canary Wharf and have tried them all

Asda ignored the delivery times and arrived any time they wanted, including 11pm one night.

Tesco delivery man wanted a tip and wouldnt leave until he had one.

Morrisons were perfect, delivered what I ordered and punctual

Waitrose never got the order right.

Sainsburys were just too unreliable, missed the times and gave me crap alternatives to what I ordered.

Make alternative arrangements.

Even assuming they let you make a new account, first delivery slots are weeks away.

Top tip is to shop with your local independent. A few weeks of living on Carling, Haribo and weird, spicy nut mixes won't hurt you.

That's assuming your local independent does deliveries.

How many of these online services are doing the fulfilment from their own centres ?
Ocado , Morrisons ( built using the ocado platform iirc ) and Amazon , Isn't everyone else filling the orders from the shop floor ? so you are dependant on what is in the store and the person doing the picking.

Fraid not pal, he brought the stuff into my kitchen and said.

'I think I have done a good job there, justifies a tip'

I said no, and he said that he would come back later. It was already 8pm.

I reported it to Tesco, said I didnt want that delivery man coming back. They sent him back the following week. That was the last order I gave to tesco.

So what part of this is bks mate????

I've just used ICELAND, yes council, but free delivery great for stocking freezer, cupboard and loads cheaper than Aldi or Lidl.

I would rather go shopping on my hands and knees pulling a wheelbarrow than buy from Iceland.

The shopping equivant of buying a Dacia.

Whats Tesco then?

It's not a pissing contest, I buy from all supermarkets, I do Home Bargains, B and M, Mark, Waitrose etc as well, tried ICELAND for first time and food quality, service was pretty good.

Morrisons for me - used to be Ocado but the Morrisons stuff is cheaper and better quality (for fruit and veg). If you do go Morrisons then try the Wonky range, no compromise apart from aesthetics (which is subjective!) and good value.

I was a firm Ocado shopper until I tried Morrisons. I even venture in to the shop sometimes now (but you can't shop for just wonky in the shop which makes it more expensive bizarrely).

Give it a go but you will have quite a wait I think. If you need stuff and can't wait then maybe ask a neighbour if you can borrow their account?

Sarcasm aside, the website is an atrocity. It's the Ling's Cars of online grocers.

Ps. Might be better now, gave up on it a few months
ago due to the website.

Your choice friend.

Personally I would rather go hungry, you shop where you want.

The mrs uses Morrison's mostly, sometimes occado. Morrison's are decent but their drivers would seem to be on bonus proportional to how many bags they use.

The neighbours use Tesco for early weekend deliveries who seem to have a policy that if they have to be awake, then so should everyone else in the entire street. I honestly have no idea how sorting groceries can produce more clatter than a military shipyard on a wartime shedule.

i tried to register with Ocado. I couldn't get into (onto?) their website. There was a van crawling across the screen saying 'you are in a virtual queue. The wait time will be more than 15 minutes. I have just checked it'.

Registered with Sainsburys. No problem.

Registered with Tesco. Well, it said I was already registered. No problem.

Both have minimum charge of £25 - I think. Do I give them both a sample order and see how they do?

Oh, I also had a look at https://www.emergencyfoodstorage.co.uk/

Delivery times in May?

How much!!!!
