Sad news coming through this morning on the news huddlines... he was 83.

Increasingly, as others of his era were passing away, you'd hear Roy Hudd pay tribute to them (Barry Cryer's another one) but now, he's sadly passed.

I've been listening to him on the radio recently, a very talented chap.

"The News Huddlines" was the very first radio comedy programme I remember listening to as a youngster.

His comedy was very much of the music hall generation, and he had an encyclopedic knowledge of it's history.

A sad loss. frown

My intial abiding memory is an odd one - Harold Atterbow, the slightly pervy Wurlitzer player in Dennis Potter's excellent (as always) Lipstick on your Collar

Consistently described as one of the kindest , nicest guys in showbiz - and you got that vibe always , just by merely watching him on TV

Legend. He nearly killed me 35 years ago at the Old Time Music Hall Leeds City Variety Theatre when I almost died laughing.
