Best monitor for about £150. New or used.

Hi All
Looking for a monitor for very normal use. I just surf the web, word process and watch video really. I do also edit photographs, so the best "true" colour, hi-res monitor would be great.
Happy to be something used off eBay if you guys can find something that you would recommend! Also happy to buy new obviously, but feel I will get better quality used.
Thank you!

If you buy, or even just peruse, Computeractive, Webuser, PC Pro et al, they normally have best buys. I bought by Acer after a recommendation by eBuyer and am very pleased with it. A pop-up comes if you log onto their website for live chat. It was an 'end of line' and remarkably cheap. I had to promise that I wouldn't use it for certain games (online I seem to remember) because of the refresh rate. Very professional service. They ask a few questions and that's it. I was given a choice of two or three best buys, and they all were over 4* reviews. I went alphabetically. Looking for a monitor for very normal use. I thought the children were still at school???
It will depend on the size of monitor and what you are connecting it to and how.. i.e. HDMI, DVI, USB-C, VGA, Thunderbolt, etc..
There seem to be a plethora of offers at the moment, but you might want to future proof your option a little.. I've got two monitors I've had for ages, but they now connect to my MacBook via a couple of adapters, but that might not be an option for you.

Is there commission in someone doing your work for you?
Well, I assume you're being paid for being a w**ker, so why not? I keep forgetting why I stopped bothering with forums. End of topic.Mods, please delete. Cheers. There are plenty of websites available to determine the best monitor (display type, size, refresh rate, response time etc) for your needs and budget.
In this day and age we have a wealth of information online and it's better sometimes to just search for it yourself :-)

I just bought another monitor so my wife can work at home, in the process I discovered my 28" 4k display is 5 years old, it's really good. I wouldn't worry about the age of the monitor too much, rather the spec, size and price. Worth looking on Gumtree to see if there's anything nearby you can just pop out and get, of the 6 monitors I have around the place I think 5 were sourced like that and all have been perfect.
I ended buying a Samsung 28" 4k thing that's a couple of years old for £125 delivered on eBay.

I’d say try to get a super widescreen. I’d never go back to a normal size now for a main monitor.
I'm not sure about this, when I was looking I looked at a few, but then I can get a 43" 4K monitor, which is the same width, so why wouldn't you want the extra height? My current setup is one large 28" screen with two 24" screens to one side one above the other, I'm in two minds as to whether it's better to have several screens or a single very large screen and use software to create virtual screens so programs snap into predefined spaces.

Personal preference. I couldn’t work on a 43” monitor I don’t think. My current setup is one large 28" screen with two 24" screens to one side one above the other, I'm in two minds as to whether it's better to have several screens or a single very large screen and use software to create virtual screens so programs snap into predefined spaces.

I prefer multiple screens as it’s easier to drop and arrange windows in multiple monitors. I think I agree, it's what I have at the moment, but don't you have the same issue with a super-wide? Windows aero-snap lets you do side-by-side apps easily, (actually that's better on one screen as I can't snap to the sides where there's another monitor adjacent) but how do you get three programs side by side easily?I actually looked at setting up virtual screens yesterday, as my 28" is a bit wide really, the Nview porgram that came with my graphics card was useless, Excel will snap to the virtual areas, but Chrome and Google Play Music ignore it, I wanted it to create a music side-bar. Didn't get as far as looking at other software options.
If I went for one screen, I would get something very big like the 43", split it into three left to right, then split it top to bottom 2/3rds and 1/3rd, so the same as the ultra-wide for working but you can put tweetdeck, youtube, email, server monitor, task list, skype etc etc up top out of the way.
This is off-topic for the OP now, but I think what might suit me best is a compromise between the two, a pair of 32" screens, one horizontal and split in two and the other vertical and split into 6.
