BMW G30 530d Advice on Scouting Deals - No Haggling?
Discussion
Hi All,
Long-time lurker, first-time poster here, was looking for some advice from the community.
I'm looking to get a G30 530d on PCP.
Been looking through AT and also rang up 3 main dealers who had some attractive prices for pre-reg pieces (albeit a bit farther out than where I'm based).
ALL of them said we have a no-haggle policy and price our cars competitively, wouldn't budge on price.
Is this normal or simply because I'm negotiating over the phone?
I thought given current market conditions dealerships would want to do a deal with a serious buyer who's not undercutting too much.
Any tips, advice?
Is it better to go in-person?

Always better to deal face to face; but with the current situation going on, that could be more difficult, if at all possible...Long-time lurker, first-time poster here, was looking for some advice from the community.

Also; FYI; there's a dedicated G series section here on the 5 forums, lots of owners there that can offer you advice

I was emailed with an offer a week or so ago, local dealer. £16.5k contribution on the 530d.

There are some very good pre-reg prices at Dealers at the moment. Q3 2019 registered cars (530d MSport Plus / comfort pack) with 10 miles on for £31k. That is around a £25k saving on list. A good option if you do more miles and/or have access to the funding. I wouldn't expect price movement on these.
This approach has worked twice.
Go and see your chosen dealer. Test drive the car and get on with the sales person.
Tell him you like the car but you want to pay £ (low price). Chance your arm, but don’t be greedy.
Have a bit of banter and keep it relaxed.
They will say they can’t get there.
They will go and get/consult the business manager etc.
Stick to your guns.
Tell them that you can go and see another car for say £1000 less or whatever. Make sure that the car/deal exists and that you can go there and at least get somewhere close to what you want.
If they call your bluff - walk away!
Twice! I have had salesmen literally running across the forecourt to shake my hand through the moving car window.
Remember you have what they want -cash! But the dealer has what is everywhere - a car.
Above all stay relaxed with a poker face, play it cool, don’t get excited about the lovely new car. They do this everyday. Play the game and have fun.
Good luck.

I would hold on a couple of weeks.
Price are through the floor trade, this will come through to retail shortly.
G30 cars that were being bought for £25k a month ago are now getting around £15-17k depending on spec.
Nothing is selling.
Sytner, Arnold Clark are not buying more stock at the moment, WBAC are only giving valuations that last one day.
My 520d that I was offered £12399 for a few weeks back suddenly went down to £8680 last week.
Haven't dare look this week.
I think we will get to the silly deals within a few weeks.

True. When the market bottoms, it matters little that a supplier is selling for less than they paid, they need income, and any sale is better than no sale. Yes, they can lay staff off, but the ones they want to keep still have to be paid, and loans on buildings etc., have to be paid.Go and see your chosen dealer.
