Hi. Im in the middle of a Toyota W58 box into a classic. So far so good. My problem that the gearbox came from a Mk4 Supra - the one with the "tripod" gear lever arrangement. This puts the gear lever nearly 6" further back than the "normal" W58 box.
So, has anyone figured out how to get round this ? My bellhousing supplier hasnt answered my questions yet.
Thanks, Neil

post a picture of either.

If this is what you have now ?

Surely the 6 bolt plate on top of the box would accommodate the older shifter ?

Yes, that's what I've got now. I think the earlier bits should bolt on, but I was hoping for confirmation from someone who had done it already

Many years ago I bought a R154 kit from Colin here

I see he's still around, so maybe he has something.

I faced the same problem when fitting an AZ6 6 speeder in my kit car. There's a company called SQ Engineering in Australia that makes reverse remotes to suit the AZ6 but I made up my own to move the lever forward five inches. Looks a little "agricultural" but works perfectly.

This is the SQ version, may be adaptable to your W58? Or make your own?
