Escape From Tarkov (Beta)
Discussion
Some of you might have seen this as the current flavour of the month/streamer go-to game. I let myself fall to the peer pressure and bought it, not only just the base game but sunk the max amount.
This game has so many parts that make it incredibly addictive even though it's a game type i don't like. I'm not a big multiplayer gamer and i never really enjoyed any battle royale game but this has much more than PUBG or Fortnite, the main mechanic is that whatever you take from the raid you keep if you survive and whatever you take in you lose when you die unless it's insured and untouched by match end. This leads to "Gear fear" which means you hoard things which is another of the addictive mechanics, the stash and playing tetris to hide your best guns, ammo, armour and gear.
Each match starts with the players (pmcs) loading in to a point on whichever map you've picked in a match that lasts between 20-45 minutes and can do a variety of things, you can go do tasks set by the NPC vendors on the main menu which will increase your exp, money and reputation with them unlocking more items to purchase from them, you can go hunt down other players for their prized gear and guns or you can go loot the various boxes, caches, safes, computers and containers on the map for the chance to find something that will sort out your money woes. You then need to extract which can be on a few set places of the map depending where you spawn. When you're out its time to take stock, sell the good stuff or keep it to go in again. Add in to the mix NPC scavs that will attack PMC's and it makes it interesting. One final but particular feature which keeps me addicted is the scav run, you have a scav character, it's randomly skilled and geared and you can use this to hoover up the scraps of a battle between players or if feeling brave go for players and when you're broke and have nothing to your name this might provide you a full load out you need to carry on making rubles.
This game is greater than the sum of its parts, it's the most frustrating, stressing and intense game i've ever played and for someone who hates multiplayer and BR games it just has me in its grip, i feel like some sort of medieval post-battle scavenger, i'll gladly knife people for their boots and scurry off with my illgotten gains, or i'll ignore people completely, be sneaky and try to do a task set by a vendor which helps give each match a bit of structure.
If anyone else has it, i've mainly solo'd and my PVP is really rusty but i'd love to try out a squad and for once not be on the receiving end of some geared-boi's hungry for my blood.

Here is the ph discord with a few of us playing, Although you are as likely to be killed by someone on your own team as much as the enemy as trying to work together in a group with no identifiers is surprisingly hard, prepare for lots of "is that you?"

Brilliant, thanks, i'm not familiar with Discord so i'll sign up and see what it's about. I've been mainly nightvision solo raids and getting tasks done with the odd bout of PVP which i normally fail at properly. It'd be nice to see the friendly fire aspect of the game haha.https://discord.gg/UCmgQY
Just hope my OP will make others consider giving it a try, yes it's daunting and a big learning curve for the new player but it's got so many little hooks that bury deep.
