I've just been quoted 145 pounds for a medical from my GP for the MSA race licence.

I see on this forum that some have been charged 45 pounds or there about.

Have I asked for the wrong thing or is the GP just in rip off mode?

Any recommended docs in Surrey who would do this medical?

You're being ripped-off. My medical was £25, but my GP does road rallies with his daughter so he gave me a 'preferential' price...

If you look at the MSA's site, they have a number of GP's throughout the country who will do a medical for about £45/£50. I *think* it is www.msauk.org, or google it.

£145 is a bit steep but the fee is entirely discretionary, typically £90 -120 I'd say. I do preferential rates (£50) for my WRDA chums and I'd do the same for any fellow PHers. Not much help to you I'm afraid as I'm in Wales!

I did find an excellent doctor locally who did it for £40

Better not name here but contact me personal mail via profile if you need the medical in Surrey.

Thanks for all the advice. I did think £145 was a ripoff even for Surrey thats a joke.

My doctor in Aberdeen tried to charge me £95. I told them politely where to shove it ...and got a doctor friend of a friend to do it for a bottle of wine. Much better deal!
