one of our PC's runs Windows 8.1 pro - yesterday the time changed randomly and ended up around 3 hours behind.

This morning the PC was still showing that it was still 8pm yesterday lol

I have changed the DATE/TIME thingy from internet time to manual mode

What would cause this and what do I need to do to fix this please?

BIOS BATTERY ETC???

UPDATE . . .

Took PC apart
Cleaned out everything
replaced BIOS battery
started up - MAJOR PANIC as the whole system has reset and windows wont load
(should have saved the BIOS settings)
found the right HDD boot settings
restarted and all working perfectly

My advice - SAVE BIOS SETTINGS FIRST - then change the battery lol

all is calm once again - will be doing a disk image etc - everything is backed up in the cloud - but the software we use - would be a REAL PITA if it bombed

Lesson learnt!

Have a great day - stay safe

How long did you leave the BIOS battery out? I have changed loads of them over the years and not once had to go and reconfigure the BIOS after.

That's interesting, taking battery out was a default way to reset BIOS back in the day.

I am sure you had to leave it out for a certain period for that to take effect, most have a motherboard jumper reset as well IIRC
