Mk7 Golf R clutch rattle/clunk on start up.
Discussion
Hi all,
I have a Manual 2016 Golf R on 67000 miles.
To start the car you have to depress the clutch, when released with the car in neutral there’s an awful rattle/clunking from the gearbox area, Which lasts for a couple of seconds.
Clutch doesn’t slip, feels okay to use. Only does it on the initial start up and doesn’t do it once warmed up.
Any advice appreciated.

Could be a sign the Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF) is on it's way out or perhaps the timing chain tensioner.
I don’t think it’s the timing chain. It’s definitely from the clutch/ gearbox area. Its quite a harsh clunk, clunk, clunk noise! As if two plates are rattling together?I’ve been told throw out bearing? But not so sure...
