Fortunately my cold has got better and the weather was okay so I picked up the Tuono as planned this morning.

Took it for a 200km trial run up to Welsford in the SH16. Pretty good road for an exceptional bike.

Only downside is that it wasn’t as comfortable as I had hoped.
Legs were fine but butt getting a bit sore. Maybe I need to ride it more. Other than that bike was epic.

There really isn’t anything to replace cubic inches. Just makes overtaking so easy and without stress.

Will try to get it run is as soon as possible. 7000 rpm is actually plenty fast enough but that is where the bike just starts to sing.

You don’t need a comfortable seat; you should be elbow down, hanging off the bike at a 65 degree lean angle. Seriously though, I’ve toured with a mate who has one and we regularly did 500 plus miles a day. Having said that, he suffers from a sore ass all the time from other pastimes . Enjoy the new toy - it looks awesome

same myself...hadnt driven one before i got it so finding unusual things about it. Clutch basket is pretty noisy and the fuelling / throttle response is not as good as i had hoped..

Electronic ohlins is good as is the V4.

Still got my s1000r....may keep it.

Not much I don’t love about the bike but fuelling around town doesn’t seem great. Actually I think just constant throttle not it’s best point - seems perfect on good roads where you are always accelerating or decelerating.

Another couple of hundred kms this morning.

Rather happy with the purchase so far.

Great looking bike - congrats!

Something that has made a massive difference to numb bumb for me is compression shorts - just normal Under Armor things. Work like a charm though I've no idea why.

I thought the same when I picked up my 2019 Tuono Factory, especially compared to the 2016 RSV4 I traded in, but after a few hundred miles I don’t notice any difference.

Just done the 1000k service so time to self isolate in the mountains!

Soon I will be limited to looking at it rather than riding: I’ve already done over 400km since picking it up at the weekend but first service due at 1000km. Unfortunately all businesses in NZ are now in lockdown for at least a month. Really depressing as riding the bike was about the only activity I could do (except from walk the dog) with the current restrictions.

Just to move this over here from the 'other' thread...

I couldn't justify the cost of a new 1100 even if I could afford it or had a garage to put it in. So I did an insurance quote on a 2014, 1000 @ roughly £7k:

With 2 yrs NCD, £1300! I'm 42.

Actually same with 3 yrs...

£235 with a garage! There's a grand towards the garage right there...
