At close of business on Monday 23rd March Jon Lewis are closing their shops till further notice

Presumably they can transfer staff to Waitrose to help with the supply chain, shelf stacking, etc.

Yes, I think they've already said they will move across as many as is practical.

They're going to need some actual stuff to put on the shelves though, our local Waitrose looked absolutely decimated when I went around 4pm this afternoon!

Managed to pick up a 4pint of milk though (only the organic stuff left) which was good as other places had nothing.

Good move really
Deploy the troops to beef up the Waitrose food stores
Can still use John Lewis online ..

I guess if the government are picking up 80% of your wage bill you might as well shut up shop & save on utilities?

I think this is the start and more stores will close, soon it will only be supermarkets, pharmacies, corner shops and petrol stations. If everything goes online and capacity gets built up to cope, will the high street ever recover?

All the staff in our JL are being moved to the 2 nearest Waitrose.

We are three days (in terms of cases and deaths) behind where Italy was when they announced a nationwide quarantine.

Stores may soon not have an option but to close.
