Right folks I need some help, with gyms now closed I am thinking of getting some equipment and making a gym in my garden for full body workouts.

So far I'm thinking of getting this frame for pull ups, dips etc and a 30kgs weighted vest Also may be a TRX set, battle ropes and a sissy squat bench.

What other equipment could people recommend for a garden gym.

I bought this lot 2nd hand a few months ago when I got pissed off with travelling to / from the gym, cost about £230, power rack, Olympic bar, 110kg plates, bench and TRX, the rack has dip and chin stations, I can do pretty much anything I want anytime, great purchase.

That's a great buy.

Good luck with the setup OP, everything is sold out everywhere. I bought a bench on Thursday night on eBay and I'm hoping that it was posted on Friday before the gym closures otherwise I suspect I might never receive it.

Weight plates are the new bog roll.

B&Q is doing a roaring trade apparently my son came in knackered yesterday after his shift.

I can’t get gym gear either. I’m thinking of going DIY on a bench and squat rack if I can get a barbell and weights from somewhere.

Wow I bet a lot of us would love to just be able to find that kit available, let alone at £230!, right now. Great purchase.

I’ve got a space allocated in the garage and want this exact set up but can’t find anywhere which will ship any time soon. Frustrating as just reaching some new lifetime PBs on my lifts!

Burpees
Press ups
Pull ups off any tree branch
Any spare & cheapest paving slabs £2 each ideal for any training.
Also digging now that is hard + you can convert part of your garden to veg patch. Grow your own veg fun of it exercise and also lovely to eat + you’ll help with supermarkets.
You could buy a few concrete blocks too - again a few quid.

But best workout is Burpees stamina building. Cost zero.

TRX was pretty much designed for what a lot of us are experiencing at the moment, this is an interesting listen by the bloke who designed it:

There are also HIIT playlists on spotify that I like for home work outs.

I have ordered an outdoor pull up/dip bar. It was the only one I could find still in stock, a quick look now and its gone. There were only 4 when I placed the order. Thinking about buying a 15kg slam ball, then I think i am set for the garden.

EDIT Ebay link

It looks like it might be a little flimsy but time will tell.

One challenge is 5 reps of 30 burpees with 45 seconds gap....... that beasts even the most hard core fitness person.

I prefer gymnastic rings because they hang separately and have more adjustment. You can do way more with them.
