Macbook pro, sudden multiple issues.

I'm staying away from home for a couple of days. On arrival, I've tried to log in to the wifi, all other devices managed this immediately without difficulty, however the device in question needed about an hour of faffing about to connect.

Since doing so, instead of just going to sleep when closed, it drains the battery and shuts down, requiring the charger to be connected every time it's required to power up. Once running, it will only allow one application to open. So, if I open mail, it then won't open Chrome or Safari.

If I open Chrome first and go to a site, it will open the home page, but if it's a forum such as PH, and I click on a page, after 30 seconds or so, it displays a message I've never seen before advising that the page is unresponsive and I have the choice to "wait" or "kill it". If I click it to kill it, it won't respond, the machine freezes and I have to close it, after which the whole process starts again.

I think given the age of the thing ( 2011 ), it's had it, but obviously if there's a solution, I'll give it a go. Cheers.

It might be worth resetting the SMC or PRAM to see if it helps -

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201295 for SMC

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204063 for PRAM

Thanks, done both of those and it seems like it might be back in the land of the living. Much appreciated, cheers.
